Harry Potter Studio Tour Tokyo Former Toshimaen Site 'Restaurant' & 'Café' [Dining Report] Day 5 (August) and Day 6 (September)

This time we entered the Harry Potter Studio Tour Tokyo at 12:30pm on Thursday 31 August 2023. The admission ticket was for the 14:30 slot, so we could enter the museum two hours earlier.I arrived at Tokyo Station from Shin-Osaka on the Shinkansen bullet train just after 11am and didn't eat anything until I came to Toshimaen Station without stopping anywhere. Except for the wiener bread I ate around 7am before leaving the hideout. Since it was a Haripota tour that we were visiting, I held out to enjoy a gut meal there. Eh? When I got hungry on the bullet train, I overcame my hunger with Shinkansen katai ice cream (Sujata) and iced coffee. (Laughs) One ice cream does not count as a meal for me. So when I, Pancake Man, entered the Studio Tour Tokyo building with a hungry stomach, I headed for the restaurant, Food Hall!

There are a total of four restaurants and cafés on the Harry Potter Studio Tour Tokyo. The restaurants are located where the text on the floor plan is in green.

Day 5 Lunch: around 12.30pm Food hall Meal 'Buttermilk Fried Chicken'

I, Pancake Man, chose Buttermilk Flied Chicken at the Harry Potter Studio Tour Tokyo restaurant Food Hall for this meal. I had been curious about it for a while, but there were so many food items I was curious about that I finally found it! There are still other menu items I'm interested in though (laughs).

Buttermilk is not yet common in Japan, although many people know about it because 'buttermilk pancakes' became famous during the pancake boom in 2012. A simple explanation is that it is the liquid left over from butter production. When buttermilk is added, the richness and flavour become more intense.

The Buttermilk Fried Chicken has been upgraded from the single item menu to the plate menu. Three large pieces of buttermilk battered fried chicken with a unique crunchy texture, served with chips (fries). This 'Buttermilk Fried Chicken' is addictive. The combination of the unique texture and juicy chicken meat is irresistible.â

However, it contains three hearty pieces of fried chicken, so one person will be full. Moreover, the quantity of chips (French fries) as a garnish is also large. (Laughs)
So, unless you are a gourmand, it is recommended that two or three people order different foods and share! No matter how excellent the food is, if you eat too much, the 'deliciousness' will turn into 'bitterness' (^▽^;).

Day 5 Lunchtime dessert: 'Rhubarb and apple crumble with custard' Food Hall

The after-dinner dessert I'd ordered alongside the Buttermilk Fried Chicken was the Rhubarb and Apple Crumble with Custard. This was one of the sweets I wanted to try. I'm full, but Pancake Man's tummy is designed to eat sweets separately, so it's all right! (What?)

The 'rhubarb crumble' appeared in the original novel Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix as a homemade dessert made by Ron's mum, Aunt Weasley. Harry ate the 'rhubarb crumble' with custard cream. 'Rhubarb Crumble' also appears as a sweet treat in Hogwarts Great Hall.

Rhubarb is not a familiar vegetable in Japan, but it is eaten as a red jam. The celery-like stem part is eaten.

A crumbly & crispy dough crumble is covered with a cocotte (vessel). Inside are small cubes of apple and rhubarb. The image of this sweet is similar to apple pie. It comes with a separate cup of custard cream, which I drizzled all over before eating.â

The Food Hall's Rhubarb and Apple Crumble with Custard was superb! The symphony of the sourness and texture of the apples and rhubarb, the crunchy and savoury taste of the crumble and the sweetness of the custard cream is the perfect combination. It's so delicious! So delicious that the pain of a full stomach flew away after one bite...

When you finish eating, you will want a second helping. Where did the full stomach go! (Laughs) As expected, I had to hold back because refilling my appetite might interfere with the rest of the Haribo tour.

We walked around the merchandise shop & shopped, walked around the Harriotta tour and came out of the tour at around 6.30pm. After another round of the merchandise shop, we came to the Chocolate Frog Café.

Day 5 Light dinner, approx 19:20 Chocolate Frog Café, Hogwarts Pumpkin Pasties

I've had too much lunch and I'm still only a little hungry still. I swear I haven't eaten any food or sweets at the Backlot Café on the way here... I ordered a pumpkin pasty from the Chocolate Frog Café.

Pumpkin pasties are, as the name suggests, 'pumpkin pies' with pumpkin paste inside a crispy pastry crust. In the original novel Harry Potter, the Japanese version is also sold in the Hogwarts Express wagon car as 'pumpkin pie', and Harry and his friends buy and eat it many times.

Chocolate Frog Café's Hogwarts Pumpkin Pasties have a Hogwarts H and school crest silhouette branding on the surface of the pastry. The shape is semi-circular as it is a pasty.

The Hogwarts Pumpkin Pasty tasted and felt exactly as it looked. The sweet, crispy pie was filled with a slightly sweet pumpkin cream. The volume is just right to fill a small stomach. You can enjoy the delicious rustic taste.

Day 5 Chocolate Frog Café, chocolate drink (iced)

Along with the Hogwarts Pumpkin Pasties, I ordered the Cold Chocolate Drink.

Chocolate The chocolate drink at the Chocolate Frog Cafe was a transparent cup with a frog logo and the words 'FROG CAFE'. The cold, sweet and rich chocolate drink is delicious... and the sweet and chocolate ingredients soak into your tired body after the Harripotta tour...

The chocolate drink is topped with fresh cream, ice cream, chocolate sauce, nuts and Oreos. This combination is the best... I, Pancake Man, who loves sweets, would also recommend it! (No, you're recommending all the food on the Harripotta tour, aren't you?) I can't help it, it's delicious... (laughs) I'm looking forward to the shakes and ice creams on the menu, which I haven't had this one yet.

Day 6 Breakfast: around 9.30am Food hall Meal 'Shepherd's Pie'

I, Pancake Man, am starving. Today is the only day I haven't eaten anything since I woke up (laughs), I just sipped coffee or other drinks. I'm serious! (W suspiciously)

I ordered the Shepherd's Pie from the Food Hall restaurant on the Haribo Tour Tokyo. Yes! Various pies have appeared in the Harry Potter stories. It is one of the most popular meal pies in the UK.

Only available in the Food Hall on the Harry Potter Studio Tour Tokyo (Sept 2023). Shepherd's Pie comes with bread, mini salad and olive oil.

The plates are also grey, so when you eat at the long tables in the food hall's Great Hall decoration, you feel as if you are eating in Hogwarts Great Hall.

My impression of Shepherd's Pie is that it is rustic and delicious. Shepherd's Pie is made with mashed potatoes on top and a filling of minced meat and vegetables. The mashed potatoes have a rich potato flavour and are delicious, while the ingredients inside are very juicy and the flavour components of the various ingredients spread in your mouth. The taste was good enough to make me say that British food is excellent... The volume is not particularly large, as it only fills my stomach about 70%.

Day 6 Morning dessert Food Hall Sweets 'Slughorn Surprise (Profit Roll)'

 After dinner, the choice was Slughorn Surprise (Profit Roll). This was one of the sweets I had wanted to try before the Harry Potter Studio Tour Tokyo opened. This morning I was with a group of fellow Harry Potters and the four of us were enjoying breakfast together, so we all shared it after dinner.

 A well-known sweet that needs no explanation to Harriotta fanatics, Slughorn Surprise is a sweet menu inspired by the sweet 'Profit Rolls' from the Harry Potter films. In the film, they were eaten at Professor Slughorn's private gatherings, which is probably why the menu is named 'Slughorn Surprise'.

'Slughorn Surprise (Profit roll)'is a pyramid of mini cream puffs, filled with fresh cream, blueberries and strawberries. The mini puffs are also decorated with chocolate sauce on top.â

Vanilla ice cream is also hidden in the centre of the profit roll, so you can enjoy a variety of flavours and this dish is more voluptuous than it looks. It tastes delicious and is a must-try dish for potatians and sweets lovers alike...

Day 6: Lunch break - bottled beverages and a sip of Curiosity Cola - Backlot Café - Harripotta Tour Tokyo

We were thirsty and our legs were getting tired after playing hard in the first half of the Harry Potter Studio Tour Tokyo until just before 13:00.Backlot CafeSo we moved on to take a break. At the Backlot Café, the queue is almost full with guests waiting to order, but we are not so hungry.

So we decided to take a break with bottled drinks from the Backlot Café refrigerated case shelves. If you only want to buy a packed lunch, a bottled drink or a sandwich from this refrigerated case, you can pay and purchase without queuing up at the self-checkout located outside the checkout area (no cash).

We bought our own bottled beverages from the self-checkout and took a break on the box seats with the image of a Potions classroom.

My impression of the drink (as it comes in a bottle) was that it was a highly carbonated, full-bodied and quite sweet cola. Tasty but very sweet! (Laughter) It tasted good but was sweet enough to make me thirsty and want water separately. www.

Curiosity Cola "The best match of nostalgic tasting cola and ginger", says the label. Ingredients include fermented ginger root extract (water syrup, ginger root, concentrated pear juice, yeast) and sugar/carbonation, so if you like ginger ale, this may be for you... I liked the taste. The country of origin is also the UK, so you can also get a Harry Potter feel!

Day 6, around 5pm Dinner Backlot Café｜Gryffindor Plate｜Harry Potter Tour Tokyo

We didn't discuss anything with them, but each of the nine Harriotta friends ordered their own plate from the Backlot Café, and as a result, we had a full plate from all four Hogwarts houses! (The nine of us ordered our own Hogwarts plates from the Backlot Café, and we were all able to get a plate from each of the four Hogwarts houses!

I, Pancake Man, am.Gryffindor plateordered. Roast beef is the main dish and is the only meal in the four dormitory plate that costs over 3000 yen. Today I was excited to celebrate the new term at Hogwarts.Â

The roast beef on the Gryffindor plate is superb. The meat was tender, juicy and sweet, with a level of texture reminiscent of the old USJ 'Three Broomsticks' roast beef. The meat itself is not a large portion, but the accompanying chips (French fries) and Yorkshire pudding instead of rice make it quite a big portion. The carrots, green peas and mushrooms are also delicious, with a strong flavour of the ingredients. Additional roast beef sauce is also included.

When I finished the Gryffindor plate, my stomach felt 80% full and I felt like I could still eat. As the main dish was meat, I was very hungry and my stomach didn't rumbled even five hours later. (**▽｀｀*)

This was the last meal of our visit to the Harry Potter Studio Tour Tokyo.
