Harry Potter Area at Universal Studios Japan, also known as Univa.The wizarding world is getting more and more exciting with the return of the Frog Choir to the show inFrom 17 March 2023, the stage will feature a new show, 'The Magical Creature Hippogriff'.The Harry Potter area has been crowded on many days since the middle of 2022, and from February 2023, the area has been very popular with crowds even on weekdays. Shows performed on the stage (Performance Stage) in the Harry Potter Area at USJ.

1. 'Triwizard Spirit Rally' dance show between Beauxbatons and Durmstrang students.
2. 'Frog Choir' Hogwarts student and frog chorus show.

The show's stage, on the outskirts of the village of Hogsmeade, is called.performance stageThat's the first time I've heard that name since the opening of the Harry Potter Area at USJ in 2014 (laughs)...so that stage had a name: the Performance Stage.

Show viewing in Harry Potter area, Saturday 25 February 2023 - conditions - children and short people are not visible.

Both the "Frog Choir" and the "Triwizard Spirit Rally" were standing room only. The front row was also standing room only.

The foot markings that maintain social distance in the Corona Disaster have also been eliminated, so guests are lined up next to each other at a level of close proximity.

Therefore, if there are many tall adults up to around three rows from the front, a wall of people is created and the rear is quite difficult to see.

Children, especially those in the middle or back rows, cannot see the stage show at all. Adults who are not tall enough can also not see the show at all.

The photo above was taken by me, the tall pancake man, in the last row, with my back to the wall, with my arms stretched upwards. The camera position in the photo is about 2m high. At my actual eye level, I could only see enough of the cast's faces through the gap in the crowd in front of me.

Get a place early.

The solution to the human wall problem for taller adults seems to be for smaller children and adults who are not 160 cm tall to take up a place and watch the show in advance. I can't think of any other solution.

Twenty minutes before the show starts, you can get a place in the first or second row from the front.

Currently, the only solution is to secure a viewing place at the front early yourself.

That's why the official USJ app andShow schedule on the websiteand check what time the show you want to see starts.

Relatively empty areas during shows｜Stage locations Harry Potter area

1. A relatively empty and easy-to-see area during the show is the area to the right of the stage. The area to the right of the wall is most likely to be open. (This is the purple-coloured area on the map above)
2. Conversely, the area on the Hogwarts Castle side tends to be crowded. However, the area near the wall in front of the butterbeer cart is also often empty. (These are the purple-coloured locations on the map above)

Proposed measures I would like to see USJ take｜How to ensure that children and short adults can enjoy the Harry Potter area shows.

Suggestion to USJ personnel. How about the following rules & operational procedures for viewing the Performance Stage in the Harry Potter Area?

It would be easier for children to enjoy the show if the front row and up to the second row could have an area reserved for primary school children and younger. Parents should only be allowed to accompany their children in a seated or sitting position.

Or how about dividing the front of the stage into three blocks, with only the first half of the central block being an area dedicated to primary school children and under?

The atmosphere is a little broken, but if blue mats with the words 'area for primary school children and under only' printed on them are placed so that primary school children only areas are clearly identified, adults are expected to naturally move to non-mat areas without having to call out to them.

Photo after the show｜There is a photo opportunity to take photos of Hogwarts students and other cast members.Â

In February 2023, the commemorative photo shoot at the end of the show with guests had not yet been restored. It's a pity, but it can't be helped yet. (>_<)

Instead, Hogwarts, Durmstrang and Beauxbatons students will stand near the centre of the stage stairs at the end of the show, posing. General guests can take photos with their own cameras or smartphones from the centre front row.

Once the photo shoot was over, the process was to move from that spot and the next guest could take a photo in the front row. So even if you are in the back when you are watching the show, you can go to the front for photo time, see the cast members up close and take photos with your camera! (≥▽≦)b

Unlike the 2022 Corona Disaster, there is a longer photo time and you can take photos in turn, so settle down and line up behind the previous guests near the centre.Â

If you want to watch and photograph the cast members before and after the show as they move about, you can do so by waiting between the Magic Neep Cart and the back alley wall.
