Hand-crafted with care by the British creators of the Harry Potter film series, this huge set was carefully transported and masterfully crafted on the Studio Tour Tokyo.

Ministry of Magic tiled design based on Victorian architecture|Studio Tour Tokyo

'Ministry of Magic' set open to the public  Warner Bros Studio Tour Tokyo - Making of Harry Potter (former Toshimaen site) World's first full-scale exhibition set!

The design of the Ministry of Magic in the Harry Potter film series was inspired by Victorian architecture, with thousands of green and red tiles made of lacquered wood. This was one of the most time-consuming and elaborate sets to create during filming. A single person building the large and complex London Ministry of Magic set would have had to work on it without a break for more than 20 years to complete it.

Here is a photo showing the set and extras from the filming of the Harry Potter movie. This is one of the photos that clearly shows the huge size of the film set, which has been recreated to Studio Tour Tokyo in its original size.

You will be invited to step onto the set featured in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (the seventh film in the series), where Harry, Ron and Hermione go undercover as Ministry of Magic employees. The set includes the iconic 'The Witches on Marble Pillars', depicting Muggles crushed under the weight of the witches and wizards on top of a marble pillar, and theMagic is Might. There is a statue of a 'Death Eater'. This statue was installed after the Death Eaters overran the Ministry of Magic and represents their view of Muggles.

In the Ministry of Magic atrium during the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix films (the fifth in the series), there was a "Fountain of Magical Brethren (Fountain of Magical Brethren).A fountain of statues was set up. It featured a golden standing statue of a wizard holding up his wand, as well as statues of beautiful witches, centaurs, imps and house servant fairies. In the Ministry of Magic atrium of the Harry Potter Studio Tour Tokyo, the Statue of the Wizard can be seen on the wall, with the neighbouring atrium floor depicted on the wall.

Warner Bros Studio Tour Tokyo - Making of Harry Potter General Manager Torben Jensen comments.

'We're delighted to be able to unveil the Ministry of Magic, the first set of its kind to be seen exclusively in Tokyo. Only Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo is the only place in the world where you can step onto a life-size set like Harry, Ron and Hermione."

'Harry Potter' film, Ministry of Magic.

  • The Ministry of Magic set was Daniel Radcliffe's favourite set when filming the Harry Potter series.
  • It was one of the largest sets built for the Harry Potter film series, requiring the creation of over 30,000 tiles. Each tile was painted in six different colours and then lacquered to give the appearance of ceramic tiles. This was a time-consuming process and took many months to complete.
  • The set was so large that hundreds of extras were needed to play Ministry of Magic employees during the mass gathering scenes. Many of the people on screen are costumed staff.
  • During the filming of the Harry Potter film series, the set took 22 weeks to build.
The Ministry of Magic Atrium from the Harry Potter films has appeared in two films and the movie Fantabi.
  1. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (5th film) Peaceful times.
  2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1 (7th film), The Dark Ages.
  3. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: Fantastic Beasts and the Birth of the Black Wizard (second film).
If you enjoy the Ministry of Magic exhibition set, you will enjoy watching the above three films immensely...

I'm the same age as Daniel Radcliffe (Harry), so I love Harry Potter because I get to grow up with Harry and his friends. The Ministry of Magic has many impressive scenes, but I was really impressed by the detailed workmanship and the individuality of each room (office). There are also behind-the-scenes looks at film production and experiences that take you inside the film, so I think you can enjoy yourself all day long."
