Myrtle of Sorrows is a ghostly character in the film & original novel and stage Harry Potter. She is the ghost of a deceased witch who was once a schoolgirl at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and instead of dying and passing on to the other side, she remains in the wizarding world of this world as a ghost, living in the girls' toilets on the third floor of Hogwarts. In the Harry Potter universe, when a wizard dies, he or she can choose between travelling to the afterlife and remaining in this world as a ghost. During his time at school (while alive), he was a member of the Ravenclaw dormitory at Hogwarts. He is a shy, mischievous, hateful character who basically takes Harry's side.

English name: Moaning Myrtle
Japanese translation: myrtle of sorrows.

As Hogwarts is about 50 years old when Myrtle is at school, the costume uniform is also to the specifications of the Hogwarts robes of 50 years ago. The emblem on the dressing gown is also the common emblem of the four Hogwarts dormitories.

  • Actor's name: Shirley Henderson
  • Origin: English actress (born in Scotland)
  • Date of birth: 24 November 1965.

Shirley Henderson was already 36-37 years old when she appeared in the film Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. And yet she did an amazing job of playing a teenage Hogwarts schoolgirl. It's amazing how she acts and looks, and how she doesn't look her real age at all.Â

The scene in the film Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire where The Lamenting Myrtle appeared was the Hogwarts supervisory bathroom. The bathroom for prefects was large and bright, with stained glass windows of mermaids and a luxurious pool-like bathroom. The hot water tap was colourful and poured several hot waterfalls, as shown in the picture above. Even in the director's student bath, The Myrtle of Sorrows gave Harry important clues.

Original novels Harry Potter and The Sorrowful Myrtle.

In the original novel Harry Potter, Myrtle the Sorrowful is a character who wears thick glasses and sobs in the S-pipe in the third-floor girls' toilets at Hogwarts. In the original novel, she is described as 'the ghost of a stocky girl' and differs from the slender Myrtle of the film.

The first time he appeared in the film was at an 'End of Life Day Party' organised by 'Almost Headless Nick'. He was involved with the character 'Beeps the Poltergeist', who does not appear in the film, and made fun of Myrtle. In all sorts of awful language...

Myrtle appeared occasionally in the original novels. The last appearance of the Myrtle of Sorrows was in Harry Potter and the Prince of Mystery. Incidentally, it also appeared in the men's toilets in the original novel.

One thing I can say is that the Myrtle on stage was more Myrtle than Myrtle, as if she had stepped out of a film (#^^#)™.
