The show is currently on a long-run in the UK, USA, Germany and Australia, and will open in Canada at the end of May, but this is the first time in the world that a production announcement has been held on stage. The venue was packed with the media, indicating the high level of interest in the show.

The stage was decorated with a set of scenes from London's King's Cross Station 'Lines 9 and 3/4', familiar to Harry Potter fans. The final book in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, ends with Harry's son Albus leaving Lines 9 and 3/4 for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, but the stage Harry Potter and the Cursed Child begins the story where it left off. Harry Potter fans will no doubt be thrilled just to see the stage set at the beginning.
TBS Akasaka ACT Theatre underwent months of renovation work to realise this performance.
The TBS Akasaka ACT Theatre underwent months of renovation work in order to realise this performance. On this day, the theatre's rebirth as the Harry Potter Theatre was shown to the media for the first time. In order to realise the magic of the play, various devices have been installed not only on the stage, but also in the auditorium, underground and on the walls. We invite you to experience the full picture at the theatre.
Stage production of HARRIPOTA| For the media
The production announcement was hosted by TBS announcer Maonko Hibi, one of the stage's supporting ambassadors. She appeared wearing the green scarf and robes of Slytherin, one of the four dormitories of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The event began with opening remarks from the organisers, Taku Sasaki, President and CEO of TBS Television Inc. and Yoshitaka Hori, President and CEO of HORIPRO Inc, who spoke about the enthusiasm of the two companies for the performance.
Finally, the actors appeared on stage. On stage were,Tatsuya Fujiwara, Kanji Ishimaru and Osamu Mukai as Harry Potter, Aoi Nakabeppu and Seina Hayagiri as Hermione Granger, Ehara Masahiro and Shunta Tateyama as Ron Weasley, Yu Fujita and Kohei Fukuyama as Albus Potter, Soudai Kadota and Rio Saito as Scorpius Malfoy and Headmaster McGonagall. Ikue Sakakibara, Hitomi Takahashi.13 of the 13 members.
All of the actors in this year's production were selected by audition. The actors talked about their memories of the auditions and the rehearsals that started in early April; they have been working together every day for more than a month, and their teamwork is outstanding. They also talked about how the rehearsals took place in a huge film studio because the set would not fit in a normal rehearsal room.
The audience was also given a series of behind-the-scenes stories about the creation of the production, including the physical training that takes place every morning with the participation of everyone, and the rehearsals with the overseas creative team, who are familiar with the work. It was interesting to hear that the rehearsals for the illusions were carried out simultaneously with the play, something that is only possible in this production, where a lot of magic is performed.
Assistant director Conor Wilson spoke about his ambitions for the Tokyo production, the first in Asia, with just one month to go before the previews open. The stage production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a new story centred on Harry Potter and his son Albus, who becomes a father 19 years after the Harry Potter series. As evidenced by its long-running run around the world, this stage production can be enjoyed not only by Harry Potter fans, but also by those unfamiliar with Harry Potter. This gem of a stage, packed with the world's finest technology, will finally open in Japan.
Preview performances of the stage production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child are Thursday 16 June ~ Thursday 7 July. The main performance opens on Friday 8 July.Tickets for the performances from 21 May (Sat) at 10:00 will go on sale in advance and will go on general sale from 11 June (Sat) at 10:00. Tickets are available at TBS Ticket and HORIPRO STAGE.
TBS will broadcast the film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and Part 2 on two consecutive nights from 7pm on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 May. On both nights, a special programme on the stage Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will be broadcast after the film, so don't miss it.

Tatsuya Fujiwara, Mikiji Ishimaru and Osamu Mukai as Harry Potter Comment.
The rehearsal period is several times longer than for our usual productions, and there is one month left until the preview performance, so we will just try to make sure that the Japanese version of the play is one of the most ideal in the world.
I entered the theatre for the first time and was impressed by the theatre space one step earlier than everyone else I will do my best for each day's training.
The theme of this play is 'Letting the Light In'. We will make sure that this production can be a 'light' for the Japanese theatre world.
When I stepped into the theatre, I saw the world of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child!
The thumping blood rushes through your veins and your heart beats the same as it did when you were growing up.
What has been steadily built up in the rehearsal room will now be unleashed on the set.
That moment is bliss for an actor.
This time around, it will be even more days of pounding each detailed decision into your body.
We will practice with enthusiasm so that we can deliver the best possible impression to everyone who attends the show.
Stay tuned.
It is not only a production that has never been seen before, it is also a bone-breaking piece of theatre that combines entertainment and storytelling, and I strongly urge as many people as possible to experience it in the theatre.
Aoi Nakabefu and Seina Hayagiri as Hermione Granger Comments.
An extraordinary stage has come to Japan!
The productions that go far beyond the imagination never cease to surprise, impress and thrill us in the rehearsal halls.
I can't wait to share this excitement with you all! We are very excited to be able to share this excitement with you.
We will do our best to bring you a magical world that will make your heart skip a beat.
We would be happy to wait for you with an expected value of 1201 TP5T.
I feel like I'm trying a completely new kind of theatre with lots of things going on, including a magical production.
I want to brush up on the emotions I felt as the first audience member in the rehearsal room, so that I can now deliver them to the audience.
Masahiro Ehara as Ron Weasley Comment.
When I first saw the script, I honestly didn't understand a lot of what was going on, but the details gradually became clearer during rehearsals, and now I'm feeling really excited! It's the first time I've been in a rehearsal room where the illusions are so amazing that people around me applaud every now and then, and the director says it won't be like this when we go on stage, so I'm itching to deliver the finished product to you all as soon as possible! I'm sure I'll be able to show you a world you've never seen before, so please look forward to it!
Shunta Tateyama as Ron Weasley Comment.
I was grinning on the first day of rehearsals because the casting was so stiff. They are all like a bunch of talented people, and the rehearsal room is full of senior and junior members who are at home and reliable! I am especially jealous of the talent and hard work of the youngsters. I want to get on well with them while I still can, so that they will be good to me in the future. People concerned, this is the stage for you to buy a black field of talent. Please enjoy this world-class entertainment. I'll be looking forward to seeing you.
Yu Fujita as Albus Potter Comment.
My feeling now, after a month, is that the film has more potential than I can see at the moment, and that the real fun will be undermined if I don't continue to explore more than what is required of me as an actor.
This performance is taking place all over the world, and I will keep the spirit of challenge alive so that I, too, can give the audience a magnificent view of Harry Potter in Japan.
We look forward to seeing you on stage.
Kohei Fukuyama as Albus Potter Comment.
Every day was full of life! It was a month that passed like a storm, with my body and mind running at full speed!
There were also many realisations about Albus, who plays the role, and the moments when the relationship between the roles deepens are still interesting.
The magic of this work is bathed in lots of theatre charm.
On the day we entered the theatre, the entire cast sat in the audience and were able to experience the moment when the stage curtain opened from the same perspective as the audience.
The beauty and exuberance of the film was so overwhelming. Now I can't wait for you all to see it!
I want to face it until the very last minute and enjoy the rehearsals so that I can welcome you to the theatre with confidence!
Munehiro Kadota as Scorpius Malfoy Comment.
In the past month, we have still had a lot of sun. There are still things I haven't tried. It would be too good not to give my all at such an opportunity, surrounded by the best team and involved in the best work. I will do my best. I will deliver the play with love in my own way.
Rio Saito as Scorpius Malfoy Comment.
The rehearsals in the rehearsal room were really intense. There are new discoveries every day, and the stage is really fun to perform on and watch as it changes rapidly, such as the changes in direction from the site where the show is being performed in Melbourne. I want to learn a lot, increase my range of expression and grow every day as we go into the theatre and the rehearsals get even more serious. I want to continue to feel the joy of being able to live in my favourite work, Harry Potter, while not losing the pressure of being on stage for the first time.
Ikue Sakakibara as Principal McGonagall Comment.
I am excited to be able to take on the role of Headmistress McGonagall in the production of Harry Potter, which is loved around the world, and I have been attending rehearsals with high expectations. But...
Pulled by the dynamic development and the energetic cast, I am sweating and struggling both mentally and physically!
Maybe it's me who's looking forward to the show more than anyone else!
Hitomi Takahashi as Principal McGonagall Comment.
I was very nervous because it was my first time working with an international team and on the Harry Potter stage.
At the beginning, we were told that we are all a team.
From the very first warm-up, I was like, "What? How much?" But from the third day I could see my body changing, and I knew that if I worked hard even now, my body would respond.
And the speed of the production is so fast that the whole cast is keeping up with it so well that I am struggling not to fall behind!
I am impressed every day by the kindness, politeness and cheerfulness of the international team, including assistant director Connor and assistant choreographer Nuno. The rehearsal room was filled with the joy of being able to perform on this stage, with all the cast helping each other here and there during the breaks.
I was amazed at how they took measurements to such an extent during the fitting, and it was a pleasant time when they carefully and meticulously made us feel we were cared for.
I'm so happy to be in the world of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child for the rest of my life that I'm not sure I'll be able to return to reality!
Thank you for this exciting and inspiring experience.
And I want to be like a mother to the children, who feel safe just by having Principal McGonagall there.
