Looking at the fireplace from the Hog's Head pub side, names and initials are carved into the wooden frame (beam) of the fireplace.

I'm guessing it's probably a Hogwarts student prank.

If you want to take a closer look, you can dine at the table in front of the fireplace and enjoy the view to the fullest.

Even in The Three Broomsticks, the house servant fairies appear, or rather shadow, here and there.has been introduced in the past.

Hog's Head pubBut you can see Dobby and the other house-servant fairies in action.

The location is behind the bar counter, with stairs leading to the second floor.

Now listen carefully with your ears pricked up.
